Life University Dormitory Received Gold Leed Certification, January 2010

Young Contracting is pleased to announce that the Life University Dormitory received the LEED Gold Certification. According to U.S. Green Building Council, the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) standards for New Construction and Major Renovations is a rating system for buildings designed to guide and distinguish high performance buildings that have less of an impact on the environment, are healthier for those who work and/or live in the building, and are more profitable than their conventional counterparts. The project was complete and ready for move-in at the start of the 2009-2010 school year.

Fresenius Medical Care North America, July 2009

Construction is underway for the Fresenius Medical Care North America (FMC USA) Jaguars Dialysis facility on the campus of USA Hospital in Mobile, AL. The 8,900-square-foot facility, located at the intersection of Stanton Road and Fillingim Street, is part of the new entrance to the medical campus. The design features a 25-patient station facility with covered patient drop-off and pick-up and a back-up electrical generator.  The project broke ground in February.  Turnover of the project to FMC is scheduled for Fall 2009.

Barrow Crossing, March 2009

Young Contracting announces the completion of Phase I of Barrow Crossing on behalf of Faison Enterprises. The 550,000-square-foot regional power center is situated at the southeast quadrant of State Route 316 (University Parkway) and 81 in Winder, GA. The regional destination represents Barrow County’s largest retail development to date. Retailers include: Target, Belk, Publix Super Markets, PetSmart, Staples, McDonald’s, Great Clips, rue21 and Stevi B’s Pizza.

Life University, January 2009

Young Contracting is on-schedule to deliver the first student housing facility for Life University in Marietta, GA in October 2009. A new, 300-bed, four-story dormitory, along with a five-story, 600-car parking deck, breaks new ground for this private college. Diversified Real Estate Development and Place Properties provide a healthy and efficient living environment for students and are seeking LEED Gold Certification. Niles Bolton & Associates is the architect.
